Job Title
Senior Design Engineer - STA
Role Summary
Responsible for physical implementation and optimization of IP, subsystem, or IC designs from RTL synthesis through GDS. Works on floorplanning, placement, routing, timing convergence (STA), ECOs, and physical verification to meet technology and reliability rules.
Member of the physical design team contributing to implementation strategy across technology nodes and resolving physical-design problems.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Implement designs from RTL synthesis to GDSII, including floorplanning, placement and routing.
- Perform static timing analysis (STA) and drive timing closure across blocks and chip-level designs.
- Execute design ECOs and implement fixes required for timing, connectivity, or physical constraints.
- Ensure physical verification and compliance with DRC, LVS, electromigration and IR-drop rules.
- Optimize implementations for performance, area, power and manufacturability per technology node.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, verification and tapeout teams to resolve integration issues.
- Define and improve physical design strategies and flows for assigned IPs/subsystems.
Requirements
Must-haves:
- Proven experience in digital physical implementation from synthesis to GDS.
- Hands-on expertise in static timing analysis (STA), timing closure, floorplanning, placement and routing.
- Experience with ECO implementation and physical verification flows (DRC/LVS, EM, IR).
- Problem-solving skills and ability to define physical design strategies for technology nodes.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with complex SoC or IP-level physical design and cross-team integration.
- Familiarity with EDA tools and custom flows for advanced process technologies.
Education Requirements
