Senior Design Engineer - Sensors
QualcommJob Title
Senior Design Engineer - Sensors
Role Summary
Senior ASIC engineer in the Sensors Technologies group responsible for architecting, designing and delivering digital sensor IP and subsystems for mobile SoCs. Work spans specification, RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing closure and handoff to layout, collaborating with systems and software teams.
Sensor applications include smartphones, automotive, wearables and IoT devices.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting describes degree/experience combinations (Bachelor's + 2+ years, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD). Practical ASIC RTL experience and familiarity with synthesis/STA and post-RTL flows is expected.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Architect and implement digital sensor IP and subsystems for ASIC SoCs.
- Develop RTL (SystemVerilog), perform RTL verification and ensure bit-exact matching with test vectors.
- Run ASIC synthesis, static timing analysis, gate-level simulation and timing-closure flows.
- Perform power estimation and implement low-power design techniques.
- Automate flows andImprove workflows using Python, Tcl, Perl and shell scripting.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineering; participate in design reviews and documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- RTL design experience with SystemVerilog and on-chip custom digital logic exposure.
- Experience with ASIC RTL synthesis, LEC, Primetime, power extraction tools and simulation environments.
- Familiarity with ECO flow, DRC/CDC checks, MBIST/DFT and gate-level simulation debugging.
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Tcl, Perl, shell).
- Strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide technical leadership.
- Nice-to-have: C++/SystemC experience and prior work on sensor subsystems (IMU, accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer).
Education Requirements
One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or a related field plus 2+ years of ASIC design/verification/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering or related field plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering or related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
