Senior Design Engineer (FPGA RTL)
Role Summary
The Senior IP Design Engineer will design and implement FPGA RTL, run logic simulation and synthesis flows, achieve timing closure, and support hardware debug and system bring-up. The role sits on the FPGA/IP engineering team and works with verification, validation, software, and system engineering to deliver production-ready FPGA IP.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum of 5 years of FPGA system design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain FPGA RTL for IP and system designs.
- Perform logic simulation, synthesis, FPGA compilation, and timing-closure activities.
- Debug hardware and FPGA builds; support board bring-up and validation.
- Collaborate with verification, validation, tools, and system teams for IP integration.
- Create example designs, integration documentation, and testbenches for delivered IP.
- Automate design, verification, and build flows with scripts and tools.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on FPGA RTL design experience with logic verification and timing-closure expertise.
- Experience with FPGA compilation, synthesis, and static timing analysis flows.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting: C/C++, Python, TCL, or Perl.
- Experience with high-speed I/O protocols (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, CPRI, JESD204B/C).
- Independent, self-motivated, and able to execute in a dynamic R&D environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Hardware validation and board-level debug experience.
- Experience with soft-IP packaging, example design, and formalized testbench development.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electronics or Computer Engineering (or equivalent practical experience). Posting specifies a minimum of 5 years of FPGA system design experience.
