FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for design, implementation and verification of FPGA-based systems for Philips products in Suzhou. Collaborates with digital design, firmware, verification and system teams to deliver production-ready FPGA firmware and support hardware bring-up.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates with approximately 3+ years of FPGA/RTL design or equivalent industry experience are preferred.
Responsibilities
The role covers end-to-end FPGA development, integration and support.
- Develop RTL (Verilog/VHDL) for new features and product updates.
- Create and maintain simulation testbenches and automated verification flows.
- Run synthesis, place & route, and perform timing closure.
- Integrate FPGA logic with processors, peripherals and high-speed interfaces.
- Debug and validate designs on hardware; perform board bring-up and lab characterization.
- Develop scripts and tool flows (TCL, Python) to automate builds and regressions.
- Prepare design documentation, release packages and transfer to manufacturing.
- Investigate and fix field/test issues and support production ramp.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills; equivalent practical experience acceptable.
- Proven FPGA design experience with Verilog or VHDL.
- Familiarity with FPGA toolchains (e.g. Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus) and synthesis workflows.
- Experience with simulation tools (ModelSim, Questa or similar) and writing testbenches.
- Hands-on hardware debug skills (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and board bring-up experience.
- Scripting skills for automation (TCL, Python, or similar).
- Experience with timing closure, constraints (SDC) and static timing analysis.
- Good English communication and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet), embedded software, or medical/device industry standards.
