Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop high-efficiency, high-linearity cellular power amplifiers (PAs) and RF front-end modules for next-generation 5G NR and 6G smartphones. Responsible for PA architecture, circuit and electromagnetic design, integration into multi-chip modules, verification, and transition to high-volume manufacturing.
Work closely with filters, packaging, and systems teams to optimize module-level performance.
Experience Level
Senior-level / Professional. The posting specifies a MSEE with at least 3 years of industry experience or a Ph.D.; candidates should have senior RF/PA design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define PA architecture and drive circuit-level design to meet linearity, bandwidth, power, and efficiency targets for 5G/6G.
- Design and develop PAs using GaAs HBT technologies and optimize for performance.
- Integrate PA dies into multi-chip modules (MCM) and optimize size, cost, and thermal behavior.
- Perform 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulations (HFSS) and circuit simulations (ADS) to align models with measurements.
- Collaborate with SAW/BAW filter, packaging, and systems engineers to optimize module-level performance.
- Conduct RF measurements, characterization, and verification of designs.
- Document design results and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support transfer of designs to high-volume manufacturing.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals: S-parameters, impedance matching, stability, and linearity.
- Extensive experience with RF circuit design and simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS, and Cadence.
- Solid background in RF measurements and characterization.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience integrating dies into multi-chip modules and optimizing thermal/size/cost trade-offs.
Education Requirements
Minimum of a MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) with at least 3 years of industry experience, or a Ph.D. degree.
