Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify high-performance, low-power RISC-V CPU cores for SoCs used in automotive, IoT and mobile edge products. Focus on CPU microarchitecture, pipelining, and PPA (performance/power/area) optimization with strong emphasis on functional safety and predictable performance. Deliver first-pass success of complex RISC-V CPU IP using RTL development and advanced verification methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Specific years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include CPU microarchitecture, RTL design and verification, performance optimization, and verification signoff.
- Define and implement CPU microarchitecture: pipeline, execution units, control and ISA features.
- Design pipelined cores with robust hazard handling and latency/throughput optimization.
- Drive PPA trade-offs (frequency, area, power, determinism) across design stages.
- Develop and debug RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog); support verification and bring-up.
- Perform performance analysis, identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations.
- Collaborate with physical design to meet timing, power, and area targets.
- Create assembly-level and C testcases to verify the core.
- Lead or participate in verification signoff using assembly tests, UVM, assertions and formal verification; manage coverage and regressions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools are listed first; nice-to-have items follow.
-
Must-have: Strong RTL design and verification experience with SystemVerilog/Verilog and experience developing CPU cores (RISC-V preferred).
- Experience in microarchitecture design, pipelining, hazard handling and performance optimization.
- Verification experience with UVM, assertions and assembly-level testing; proven ability to meet code and functional coverage targets.
- Experience writing assembly and C testcases and debugging cores during bring-up.
- Experience collaborating with physical design to achieve timing, power and area goals.
-
Nice-to-have: Formal verification experience and prior work on safety-critical or deterministic-performance CPU designs.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
