Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement complex SoC subsystems and I/O integrations (PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet) as part of a cross‑functional SoC/IP team. The role produces micro‑architecture specifications, RTL, and supports integration, timing closure and performance analysis.
This role works closely with verification, backend implementation and performance teams to deliver silicon‑ready designs and improve team methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system integration, micro‑architecture and RTL development, and cross‑team collaboration to deliver production SoC IP.
- Write micro‑architecture specifications and develop RTL for SoC subsystems.
- Integrate I/O IP (PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet) into SoC designs.
- Diagnose and fix design bugs; perform static design checks (CDC, RDC, X‑Propagation, linting).
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug build issues.
- Partner with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
- Support backend implementation with floor planning, constraints and timing closure.
- Contribute to and improve design methodologies and documentation.
- Guide and support junior engineers and assist project management with planning and schedules.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 7+ years' experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design experience and proficiency in Verilog HDL.
- Experience creating design specifications and RTL for SoC projects and compute platforms.
- Experience integrating subsystems for PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, or Ethernet.
- Familiarity with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X‑Propagation) and linting.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python or similar) for design automation and debugging.
- Proven ability to work with verification, performance analysis and backend teams toward tape‑out.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/e).
- Experience leading small teams or projects.
- Knowledge of synthesis, timing analysis, power management, DFT and physical implementation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
