Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer in the NVE Design Engineering Core group responsible for designing and validating NAND memory core and mixed-signal circuits used in Micron memory products. Work spans waveform development, circuit architecture, simulation, layout implementation, and cross-functional integration.
Experience Level
Senior β requires demonstrated professional experience (see Requirements for years-of-experience guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, analysis, and implementation of NAND array circuits and related automation.
- Develop array waveforms with detailed timing and bias conditions for NAND read, program, and erase algorithms.
- Collaborate with Firmware, Analog, and Design Validation teams during waveform implementation and verification.
- Plan wordline and bitline path architectures; determine block placement and integrate into chip floorplan.
- Perform die-size, cost/benefit, and power-consumption analyses for new array circuits and algorithms.
- Generate Xpath/Ypath/Array schematics; run block-level, subsystem, and full-chip simulations; lead layout implementation and integration.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation and AI-assisted utilities to accelerate EDA workflows, regression runs, and documentation.
- Produce and review user documentation and support cross-functional teams (Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, Marketing).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- 4+ years of NAND-design-relevant experience with prior CIM project contributions or leadership.
- Strong fundamentals in semiconductor and device physics, and analog/mixed-signal circuit design.
- Understanding of semiconductor reliability issues including CHC, NBTI, stress, snapback, electro-migration (EM), and IR analysis.
- Strong circuit debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in circuit verification and optimization, layout planning, parasitic extraction, and guiding layout teams.
- Strong coding skills in Python; experience with structured data (CSV/JSON/SQLite) and version control. Familiarity with Bash/Tcl is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to lead technical tasks and collaborate across functions.
Education Requirements
MS in Electrical Engineering required; Ph.D. preferred. (The posting does not specify certifications or explicit equivalent-experience substitutions.)
