Job Title

Senior Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior Design Engineer on the NVE Design Engineering Core team responsible for designing and analyzing core and mixed-signal circuits for NAND flash memory products. The role focuses on array waveform development, circuit architecture, simulation, layout integration, and automation to meet area, performance, power, cost and reliability targets.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Minimum 4+ years of relevant NAND design experience is required.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include design, simulation, integration, and automation for memory array circuits.

  • Develop array waveforms with detailed timing and biasing for NAND read, program, and erase algorithms.
  • Collaborate with Firmware, Analog, and Design Validation teams during implementation of waveforms and algorithms.
  • Plan wordline and bitline path architecture considering area, performance, and power; determine placement of circuit blocks and integrate into chip plan.
  • Perform die-size cost/benefit analysis and evaluate NAND power consumption with cross-functional teams.
  • Generate Xpath/Ypath and array schematics; perform block-level, subsystem, and full-chip simulations using SPICE-based tools.
  • Oversee layout implementation, guide layout teams, and perform parasitic extraction and verification.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based automation and AI-assisted utilities for EDA workflows (environment setup, corner execution, regression runs, automated documentation, predictive design/layout).
  • Create and update user and design documentation.
  • Support Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, and Marketing to optimize manufacturability, cost, reliability, and time-to-market.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.

  • 4+ years of proven NAND design experience (must).
  • Strong fundamentals in semiconductor and device physics, and analog/mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Understanding of semiconductor reliability issues including CHC, NBTI, stress, snapback, electromigration (EM), and IR analysis.
  • Strong circuit debugging, verification, and optimization skills.
  • Experience with layout planning, parasitic extraction, and guiding layout implementation.
  • Strong coding skills in Python; familiarity with structured data formats (CSV/JSON/SQLite) and version control.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams; self-motivated.

Education Requirements

MS in Electrical Engineering is required; PhD preferred. (The posting specifies MS required and PhD preferred in electrical engineering.)
