Senior Debugger Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join the NVIDIA Developer Tools team to design, implement, and maintain compute debugger tools and libraries used by developers across Automotive, VR, Gaming, AI, and HPC. The team delivers debugger and performance-analysis functionality for GPUs on Windows, Linux, and embedded real-time operating systems.

The role focuses on extending debugger capabilities, integrating features into NVIDIA developer tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve developer productivity.

Experience Level

Senior — 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing debugger features, coordinating with product and research teams, and ensuring quality and delivery.

  • Architect, design, and implement debugger features and integrations for NVIDIA developer tools.
  • Develop and maintain compute debugger tools for GPUs on Linux, Windows, and embedded RTOS platforms.
  • Collaborate with research, libraries, and product teams to define useful debugger capabilities.
  • Document requirements and designs; participate in design reviews across teams.
  • Estimate, prioritize, and drive tasks to completion against delivery schedules.
  • Perform code and design reviews focusing on performance, scalability, and correctness.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, platform experience, and personal attributes required for the role.

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, programming languages, parallel computing, and system software.
  • Proficient in C and C++; strong experience with Assembly language and scripting (Python).
  • Practical experience with debuggers, binary instrumentation, or creating developer tools (debuggers/profilers).
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture.
  • Experience developing for Windows, Linux, and embedded real-time operating systems.
  • Effective self-management, written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a distributed team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Expertise in GPU architectures and GPU programming.
  • Experience with CUDA programming.
  • Prior work on debugger or profiler tools.

Education Requirements

Required: BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related engineering fields, or equivalent experience.
