Role Summary
Senior Server Systems Debug Engineer on the Server Customer Engineering team responsible for customer-facing debug, validation, and root-cause analysis of server platforms. Focus areas include RAS, PCIe/CXL, memory, MCA/MCE and microcontroller-related failures.
Hybrid role based in Bellevue, WA. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with global AMD teams and leading task forces to drive issues to closure.
Experience Level
Senior β preferred 10+ years of experience in system debug, validation, or related engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary customer-facing and technical responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and resolve customer failures related to RAS, PCIe, CXL, memory, MCA/MCE, and microcontrollers.
- Use debug tools and methodologies (debug scripts, protocol analyzers, SCAN, JTAG, scopes) to isolate root causes.
- Provide validation and debug recommendations for bring-up, validation, new features, and production issues.
- Collaborate with global design, software, and hardware teams to define fixes and workarounds.
- Lead task forces and coordinate multi-team debugging efforts.
- Support post-silicon validation and production problem resolution.
Requirements
Must-have skills and constraints.
- Extensive hands-on experience in system debugging or validation for server platforms; experience preferred at 10+ years.
- PCIe/CXL functional and protocol debug experience across generations (Gen1βGen6) and memory protocol debug.
- RAS validation and MCA/MCE debug experience; post-silicon validation methodologies.
- Proficient in scripting/programming (Python preferred; C++, Perl, Ruby or similar useful).
- Experience with high-speed test and measurement equipment, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with x86 microarchitecture.
- Strong collaboration, customer engagement, and leadership skills.
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
