Senior Customer Support Engineer, Physical Design
Role Summary
Provide senior-level technical escalation and support for customers on digital physical design flows (RTL-to-GDSII). Work with support, account teams, and internal R&D to diagnose implementation issues, recommend optimized physical design recipes, and produce reference documentation to enable successful tape-outs.
Experience Level
Senior - 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Serve as senior technical escalation point for complex physical design problems spanning synthesis through post-route signoff.
- Debug implementation and EDA tool issues in customer designs and recommend remediation steps or workarounds.
- Advise customers on PD recipes and implementation strategies to meet Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) targets.
- Develop and maintain user guides, application notes, and reference physical implementation flows.
- Collaborate with customer support leadership and product/R&D teams to relay technical feedback and improve tool/flow performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and conditions:
- Hands-on expertise in the digital Physical Design flow (synthesis, place & route, timing closure, post-route signoff).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for implementation and EDA tool issues.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reference flows for customers and internal teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Position requires the right to work in India; offers are contingent on background checks and any required export-control authorizations.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior applications engineering or customer support experience in semiconductor/EDA.
- Hands-on experience with industry PD and synthesis tools (e.g., Synopsys Fusion Compiler/ICC2, Cadence Innovus, Genus).
- Scripting proficiency (TCL, Python) to automate debugging and analyze design databases.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. The posting specifies 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
