Senior Custom Circuit Design Engineer (Memory, FPGA Fabric Designer)
Lattice SemiconductorJob Title
Senior Custom Circuit Design Engineer (Memory, FPGA Fabric Designer)
Role Summary
Design and deliver custom memory and FPGA fabric circuit blocks for advanced CMOS and FinFET process nodes. Work within the analog/custom design team to specify, simulate, verify, and coordinate physical implementation to meet performance, power, area, and yield targets.
The role requires cross-functional collaboration with architecture, verification, layout, and characterization teams to integrate memory and fabric blocks into FPGA products.
Experience Level
Senior; typically over 5 years of experience in memory and custom circuit design, verification, validation, and integration.
Responsibilities
Primary duties span circuit design, verification, layout planning, and full-flow integration.
- Architect, design, and optimize high-speed, low-power memory and custom circuit blocks for advanced semiconductor nodes (FinFET and nm CMOS).
- Perform schematic capture, SPICE simulation, margin and functional verification of major circuit blocks.
- Lead layout planning to achieve tight pitch-matched memory layouts and area-optimized custom layouts.
- Define and track PPA (performance, power, area) and yield targets with architecture and design teams.
- Manage the full design flow including circuit design, physical implementation, characterization, timing, and model generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate blocks into FPGA fabric and system-level designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have:
- 5+ years experience in memory and custom circuit design, verification, validation, and integration.
- Strong knowledge of custom memory design and high-performance, low-power circuit techniques.
- Hands-on experience with SPICE-based simulation and schematic capture.
- Experience with variation-aware design practices for advanced semiconductor technologies.
- Experience overseeing layout planning and collaborating with layout engineers.
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills for team collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with large-density memory cell design for high yield.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device fundamentals and characterization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required. Master's degree is preferred.
