Senior Custom ASIC Engineering Lead
Role Summary
Lead and support external customer ASIC programs across RFQ, design, tape-out, packaging, fabrication, bring-up and production. Provide technical guidance on physical design, STA, DFT, packaging and EDA flows, coordinate cross-functional teams, and identify and mitigate design and schedule risks.
Work within the ASIC Products Division supporting customers in AI, HPC, networking and storage markets.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 12+ years of related ASIC engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree or 10+ years with a Master's degree.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on technical leadership, customer engagement, quality assurance of incoming designs, and cross-functional coordination.
- Manage customer ASIC programs from inception through production, including RFQs, IP/technology collaterals, design, test, packaging and fabrication.
- Review and execute physical design flows to verify incoming customer tape-in netlists meet tape-out quality standards.
- Identify potential design issues from EDA reports, propose fixes and risk mitigations, and track execution with teams.
- Advise customers on EDA tools, flows and best practices; organize technical Q&A with subject-matter experts.
- Coordinate with marketing, sales, legal and regulatory teams on technical aspects of customer designs.
- Stay current with Broadcom IPs, process technologies and end-user applications to inform design guidance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Multiple tape-outs in advanced technology nodes.
- Hands-on experience in physical design and static timing analysis (STA); familiarity with EDA tools and physical design flows.
- Ability to analyze PPA trade-offs across libraries and architectures.
- Knowledge of low power design and power management techniques.
- Experience with logic simulation, test practices, and packaging considerations.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (TCL, shell, other scripting languages).
- Strong communication skills for technical deep-dives and executive summaries; ability to work with cross-functional and external teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to SERDES communication protocols.
- Front-end logic design, microarchitecture, Verilog RTL coding, verification and synthesis experience.
- Knowledge of DFT methods including scan and memory BIST/repair.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years of related experience.
