Senior CPU Performance Architect

Role Summary

Join the CPU performance architecture team to bring up workloads, analyze performance on silicon and in full-system simulation, and drive CPU and system improvements. The role focuses on workload characterization, performance debugging, benchmarking, and collaborating with CPU and interconnect architects to improve future designs.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include workload bring-up, performance analysis, and cross-team collaboration to improve CPU and system designs.

  • Bring up workloads and perform performance analysis and projection on silicon and full-system simulators.
  • Study workloads across AI/DL, cloud service providers, HPC, gaming, and autonomous vehicle markets.
  • Identify critical application behavior, reduce to directed test cases, and reproduce real-world use cases.
  • Analyze and debug performance scaling bottlenecks on multi-core and multi-socket CPU and CPU/GPU systems.
  • Collaborate with CPU and interconnect architects to inform hardware and system design decisions.
  • Benchmark CPU offerings against competitors and recommend software or hardware improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Educational degrees are summarized separately below.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in CPU performance, systems, or architecture work.
  • Experience with CPU workloads and performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of performance test development and benchmarking for CPU and I/O.
  • Deep knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and system architecture.
  • Familiarity with the ARM instruction set architecture (preferred but not required).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent practical experience accepted. PhD or research experience is listed as a distinguishing plus.
