Senior CPU Logic Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Senior CPU Logic Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Intel's Core Engineering Group to design micro-architecture and RTL for the Out-of-Order performance core used across Intel CPUs. The role focuses on allocation and resource-management mechanisms that affect performance, power, and scalability.
You will take features from architecture exploration through SystemVerilog RTL development, validation support, debug, and tape-in readiness while working with architecture, verification, physical design, power-performance, and post-silicon teams.
Experience Level
Senior - requires at least 5 years of experience in RTL logic design and development.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include defining micro-architecture, implementing RTL, driving feature delivery, and collaborating across functional teams.
- Define and document micro-architectural solutions for allocation and resource management.
- Develop and maintain RTL (SystemVerilog) for complex CPU features.
- Own features from architecture exploration through RTL implementation, validation support, debug, and tape-in readiness.
- Lead design efforts and drive micro-architectural tradeoff discussions.
- Collaborate closely with architecture, verification, physical design, power-performance, and post-silicon teams.
- Support debug, functional validation, and performance/power analysis during design closure.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
Must-have:
- At least 5 years of RTL logic design and development experience using SystemVerilog.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, micro-architecture, and digital design principles.
- Proven experience defining and implementing complex micro-architectural features.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to drive features independently from definition through validation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; experience collaborating with architecture, validation, design, and post-silicon teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with design partitioning and micro-architectural tradeoff analysis.
- Experience developing functional validation and coverage plans with verification teams.
- Background in high-performance CPU or cache/memory subsystem designs.
- Experience with timing closure, power optimization, and performance analysis; power-aware RTL coding techniques.
- Familiarity with advanced design methodologies, scripting, and automation; experience with distributed cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
