Job Title

Senior CPU Front End Methodology Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development of front-end RTL methodology for high-performance CPU microprocessors. Provide technical leadership to improve RTL coding, debug, and methodology using AI tools; collaborate with architecture, backend, and design teams to deliver scalable, high-quality CPU IP.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects significant hands-on silicon experience and technical leadership (see Requirements for experience guidance).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on advancing front-end methodology, improving RTL efficiency, and ensuring designs meet PPA and timing targets.

  • Leverage AI tools and workflows to improve RTL coding, verification, and delivery efficiency.
  • Advance front-end methodologies and contribute to architectural and microarchitectural discussions.
  • Design and implement strategies, tools, and techniques for RTL development and logic optimization to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Ensure front-end work integrates with back-end flows and physical design requirements.
  • Collaborate with architecture, backend, and other design teams to deliver CPU IP.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and help sustain a high-performing organization.
  • Communicate clearly and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

Minimum technical and experience requirements; preferred items listed separately.

  • 6+ years of experience in silicon development of CPU logic.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership and delivering successful IP projects.
  • Hands-on experience with RTL methodologies, RTL coding, and debug.
  • Practical experience applying AI tools or automation to RTL and silicon-development workflows.
  • Comprehensive understanding of front-end and back-end design flows and how they interact.
  • Proven ability to develop tools and techniques that improve scalability, flexibility, and product-level results.
  • Preferred: experience with x86 CPU microarchitecture and x86 memory-management execution.
  • Preferred: demonstrated success driving front-end methodology adoption and measurable product benefits from AI/automation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field with 8+ years' work experience, OR Master's in those fields with 7+ years' work experience, OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years' work experience. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
