Job Title
Senior Comsys and DSP Architect - TeraWave
Role Summary
Design and architect digital communications and DSP algorithms for Blue Origin's TeraWave satellite communications system. Work with cross-disciplinary teams (ASIC, RFIC, firmware/software, systems) to target algorithms for FPGA and ASIC implementation and validate performance from pre-silicon through post-silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial experience; the posting specifies 7+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute end-to-end digital communications architecture, modeling, and implementation support for a high-throughput satellite communications system.
- Develop algorithms and models for packet processing, MAC, PHY and radio DSP targeted to custom silicon.
- Optimize algorithms for low power and high performance; target designs for FPGA and ASIC.
- Support ASIC implementation through pre-silicon verification and post-silicon bring-up and validation.
- Design end-to-end digital communication systems and model channel impairments.
- Collaborate with ASIC, RFIC, and software teams to integrate and validate architectures.
- Work with application teams to bring up prototypes and validate system-level performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, domain knowledge, and eligibility requirements.
- 7+ years experience in signal processing or modem design and development.
- Experience with networking, modem MAC and PHY, DSP, RF and/or mixed-signal designs.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, SystemC, C/C++, or other system-level modeling tools.
- Deep knowledge of DSP and communications systems: spread spectrum, forward error correction, and modulation types (OFDM, QPSK, QAM, PCM/FM, PAM).
- Experience targeting algorithms to FPGA and ASIC and supporting pre- and post-silicon validation.
- Ability to develop and validate channel impairment models and multirate DSP techniques.
- Must meet export control eligibility: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in full ASIC lifecycle: architecture, design, simulation, verification, integration, and test.
- Experience with software-defined radio architectures, ADC/DAC, and DSPs.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Preferred: advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
