Senior Compute System Software Engineer

Role Summary

As a senior engineer on NVIDIA's Compute Systems team, you will design and implement kernel drivers and embedded software that enable NVIDIA GPUs for data center products. The role works with software, hardware, architecture, and OEM teams to deliver platform integration, performance, power and thermal management, telemetry, and memory-management features across Linux and Windows.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design software for next-generation compute GPU solutions.
  • Develop and maintain kernel drivers and embedded software supporting NVIDIA GPU hardware on Linux and Windows.
  • Implement cross-platform solutions for evolving hardware architectures.
  • Develop features for clock, thermal, and power management.
  • Build telemetry, device initialization, device management, and reset capabilities.
  • Implement memory-management solutions and performance optimizations for GPU platforms.
  • Collaborate with global teams across software, hardware, architecture, and OEM support.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • 8+ years hands-on experience developing low-level device drivers, especially for Linux.
  • Strong programming skills in C and C++.
  • Detailed knowledge of operating system internals and device driver models; strong low-level OS knowledge.
  • Experience with power/clock/thermal management, device initialization, reset, telemetry, and memory-management optimizations.
  • Strong written and oral English communication; able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative teammate with a drive to solve hard problems.
  • Windows driver experience is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
