Job Title

Senior Compiler Engineering Manager

Role Summary

Lead and scale multiple teams delivering Intel's end-to-end compiler stack for CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators. The Compiler Engineering organization covers ICX, Fortran, SYCL/DPC++, MLIR, Triton and other DSLs, AI compiler optimizations, and front-end language enablement.

This is a high-visibility technical leadership role responsible for long-term strategy, cross-organizational execution, and representation in standards and open-source communities.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting expects 12+ years of total experience (or equivalent), including 10+ years in software engineering and 5+ years of engineering management.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities for defining strategy, delivering large programs, and providing technical leadership.

  • Define and drive multi-year compiler strategy across compilation technologies.
  • Lead development of next-generation compiler capabilities for CPU, GPU, and accelerators.
  • Serve as technical authority to guide design decisions and resolve cross-domain challenges.
  • Lead multiple teams or a significant organizational segment delivering end-to-end compiler capabilities.
  • Drive execution of large, cross-functional programs spanning business units and ensure alignment with architecture and hardware roadmaps.
  • Influence architecture for AI workloads, heterogeneous compute, and performance portability.
  • Represent the organization externally in standards and open-source communities (LLVM, MLIR, SYCL, OpenMP) and as a thought leader.

Requirements

Key qualifications and skills. Items marked "Preferred" are not strict requirements.

  • Must-have: 10+ years in software engineering (compilers, systems, or performance engineering).
  • Must-have: 5+ years of engineering management leading large or multiple teams and delivering complex systems.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and execute large programs.
  • Must-have: Strong collaboration skills to align architecture, compiler, runtime, and hardware roadmaps.
  • Preferred: Deep expertise in compiler design and infrastructure (LLVM, MLIR, GCC), AI/ML compilers or frameworks, domain-specific languages, or front-end languages and standards.
  • Preferred: Strong understanding of CPU/GPU/accelerator architectures and cross-layer performance.
  • Preferred: Experience shaping technical strategy across organizations and demonstrated leadership in open-source communities and standards efforts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is listed; the posting also allows equivalent practical experience. The advertised baseline pairs a bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
