Senior Cloud Infrastructure Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join a newly formed software team in Shannon working on a greenfield effort to enable High Performance Computing (HPC) for electronic design automation (EDA) workloads in public, private and hybrid clouds. The role focuses on researching, architecting, automating and operating secure, performant, large-scale cloud infrastructure and platform components for both customer-managed and Siemens-managed environments.

Work includes designing reference architectures, multi-cloud orchestration, automation and performance validation across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud within a hybrid SaaS/PaaS context.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure, platform or DevOps engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Contribute to and review cloud infrastructure architectures to support EDA workloads across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
• Design and automate reference architectures for customer self-managed clouds and Siemens-managed cloud offerings.
• Enable multi-cloud resource orchestration from the Siemens PaaS and integrate with hybrid on-prem systems.
• Implement proof-of-concepts (POCs) and performance comparison tests for cloud servers, architectures and tooling.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and DevOps tooling for Cloud SaaS solutions.
• Champion secure, highly available and performant infrastructure practices, including disaster recovery and multi-zone availability.
• Work in a scrum team, partner with stakeholders, and communicate technical decisions to diverse audiences including executives.

Requirements

Must-have vs nice-to-have summary:

• Must-have: Proven experience architecting and operating large-scale production cloud platforms; expertise with public, private and hybrid multi-cloud patterns across IaaS/PaaS/SaaS.
• Must-have: Strong automation and Infrastructure-as-Code skills and experience with container orchestration technologies.
• Must-have: Proficiency programming/scripting for infrastructure solutions (e.g. Python, Go) and experience with DevOps toolchains.
• Must-have: Knowledge of cloud security concerns and practices for environments that contain customer IP.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with performance testing and benchmarking for HPC or large-scale compute workloads.
• Nice-to-have: Experience integrating with Azure, AWS and/or Google platform services and IPaaS offerings.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in disaster recovery planning, multi-zone availability and cross-cloud orchestration.
• Nice-to-have: Cloud certifications validating platform expertise.

Education Requirements
