Job Title

Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (EDA)

Role Summary

As Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will own and evolve the AWS/Linux infrastructure that supports Kepler's silicon design and EDA engineering environment. You will be the primary administrator responsible for stability, scaling, performance, and optimization of cloud-based design tools, virtual engineering desktops, and high-performance shared filesystems.

Collaborate with chip design and verification teams to ensure reliable, high-throughput compute and storage for CAD workloads.

Experience Level

Senior; requires 7+ years of Linux systems administration and 5+ years of AWS cloud administration/engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include operating and tuning Linux and cloud infrastructure supporting EDA workflows.

  • Manage deployment, patching, security hardening, and OS performance tuning of enterprise Linux servers (RHEL, AlmaLinux or similar) in AWS.
  • Administer and tune high-performance cloud shared filesystems (AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP or similar) for heavy read/write and metadata workloads.
  • Operate virtual desktop infrastructure and remote access environments (ThinLinc cluster or similar, OpenVPN).
  • Administer floating license servers (FlexLM) and integrate Linux user authentication with corporate identity systems (NIS, Active Directory via SSSD).
  • Maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and configuration management (Ansible).
  • Monitor system health, diagnose performance issues, and implement scalability and reliability improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 7+ years Senior Linux systems administration experience.
  • 5+ years AWS cloud administration/engineering experience.
  • Expert-level Linux troubleshooting (strace, iostat, sar), memory allocation, storage/LVM management, and NFSv3/NFSv4 tuning.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS architecture, including VPC networking (Transit Gateways, subnets, Security Groups), IAM governance, EC2 lifecycle management, and Route 53.
  • Production-ready automation and scripting in Bash and Python.
  • Experience with IaC and configuration tools: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible.
  • Experience managing enterprise storage optimized for heavy metadata workloads.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience supporting engineering IT or EDA design environments and semiconductor CAD tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with HPC clustering and schedulers (IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm).
  • Experience with Microsoft Server/Active Directory, ClioSoft SOS, Git, or compiling scientific Linux tools.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
