Job Title

Senior Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design transistor-level and custom digital circuits for NVIDIA processors in deep submicron technologies. Work on hardware security, adaptive clocking, and power-management IPs, driving designs from RTL through layout and tape-out as part of a global circuits team.

Provide technical leadership, prototype patentable ideas on test chips, and collaborate across architecture, verification, physical design, and product teams to meet power, performance, area, and reliability targets.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical expectation: 6+ years of digital circuit design experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or 8+ years for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Design and physically implement custom digital IPs from RTL to layout using industry-standard tools and internal flows.
  • Perform transistor-level circuit design, schematic entry, and layout delivery.
  • Run transistor-level simulations and analyses to optimize power, performance, area, and reliability.
  • Prototype ideas on test chips and drive deployment across product lines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, verification, PnR, test) to close timing, EM/IR, and power targets.
  • Integrate AI/ML techniques into the design and methodology where applicable.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of deep submicron process issues and digital circuit design techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with SPICE simulations, EM/IR analysis, and static timing analysis/closure.
  • Experience with layout checks and place-and-route tools (DRC, LVS, PnR).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Perl, Tcl, Make or similar).
  • Proven ability to deliver production-quality designs and collaborate across the silicon flow.

Nice-to-have:

  • Low-power circuit design (power gating, decaps, multi-Vt).
  • RTL, logic synthesis, and verification experience.
  • Mixed-signal circuit design experience.
  • Post-silicon characterization, debug, and tape-out ownership.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered. The posting specifies typical experience equivalencies: 6+ years with an MS or 8+ years with a BS.

Base salary ranges (posted): $168,000–$264,500 USD (Level 4) and $196,000–$310,500 USD (Level 5), annual.
