Senior Chip Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement core units for high-performance Switch silicon within NVIDIA's Networking business unit. The role focuses on RTL development, verification, synthesis, timing, and post-silicon activities.
Work in a cross-functional SoC team to deliver high-throughput, low-latency network chips, collaborating with architecture, micro-architecture, backend, and firmware teams.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5+ years of RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering tasks and team interactions for unit- and module-level silicon development.
- Design RTL of units/blocks from architectural specifications with attention to power, area, and performance constraints.
- Develop micro-architecture and plan RTL verification environments for units and modules.
- Perform RTL synthesis, timing closure efforts, and support verification flows.
- Support silicon post-turn-on activities, bring-up, and debug.
- Collaborate with Architecture, u-arch, full-chip micro-architecture, backend, and firmware teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and relevant experience; nice-to-have items noted.
- Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on RTL design experience.
- Must-have: Experience with RTL synthesis, timing closure, verification flows, and post-silicon validation.
- Must-have: Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills; team-player mindset.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of network protocols, HPC, or distributed computing.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or B.Sc. in Computer Engineering preferred; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
