Senior Chip Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior RTL chip design engineer on the Switch Silicon team, responsible for designing and implementing RTL blocks for high-speed switch chips. The role sits in a combined design and verification team and interfaces with architecture, micro-architecture, and firmware teams.
Primary focus: deliver performant, area- and power-optimized RTL modules and verify them through simulation and reference models.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 4+ years of relevant RTL design or RTL verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design RTL units/blocks from architecture and micro-architecture specifications.
- Develop reference models and create/execute verification and simulation plans for chip blocks.
- Collaborate with architecture, micro-architecture, verification, and firmware teams to meet system requirements.
- Optimize designs for power, area, and performance under tight constraints.
- Participate in design reviews and maintain design documentation.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 4+ years of hands-on RTL design or RTL verification experience.
- Strong RTL implementation skills (e.g., Verilog/SystemVerilog) and experience with simulation/verification flows.
- Experience designing for power, area, and performance trade-offs in silicon blocks.
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate technical issues clearly.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in networking or switch silicon development.
- Experience building reference models or working on high-speed communication interfaces.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
