Senior Characterization & Verification Engineer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Join the Power Semiconductor R&D team to lead characterization and verification of power semiconductor devices (SiC Schottky diodes, SiC-MOSFETs, Si-MOSFETs, IGBTs). Drive automation and standardization of measurement systems across global labs and contribute to test strategy, data analysis, and technical documentation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in semiconductor device characterization or a closely related field.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership of device characterization and verification activities, development of automated test systems, and cross-site harmonization of lab procedures.
- Lead and execute characterization and verification campaigns to ensure complete functional coverage.
- Collaborate with design owners and product managers to define test specifications and verification plans.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize automated test setups and measurement systems for efficiency and reproducibility.
- Analyze measurement data and produce technical reports for datasheets and internal design documentation.
- Perform design verification reviews aligned with international standards.
- Drive global harmonization of standard operating procedures in characterization labs.
- Identify and implement best practices in metrology, automation, and data analysis.
- Troubleshoot test failures, define corrective actions, and support implementation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list focusing on essential capabilities.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor device characterization or related roles.
- Proven expertise in electrical characterization of power semiconductors, including Si, SiC, and GaN technologies.
- Practical experience with oscilloscopes, parameter analyzers, and PXI-based measurement systems.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and measurement system evaluation.
- Knowledge of measurement circuit design, high di/dt and dv/dt transient behavior, and thermal characterization methods.
- Familiarity with IEC 60747 and JEDEC standards, including Rth/Zth thermal analysis.
- Experience developing automated tests and instrument control using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C, C++ or C#.
- PCB design experience and development of test fixtures.
- Experience collaborating across global laboratory sites and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Clear communication and presentation skills; ability to document and convey technical results.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Semiconductor Technology, or a comparable technical field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
