Job Title
Senior Avionics FPGA Design & Verification Engineer - TeraWave
Role Summary
Develop high-reliability avionics for TeraWave satellite communications using FPGAs as core processing elements. Work on vehicle avionics design, verification, and qualification as a member of the Spacecraft Systems team supporting multi-orbit satellite platforms.
Drive requirements, architecture, RTL implementation, verification, testing, and integration activities to produce flight-ready digital systems.
Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial industry experience; posting specifies 7+ years in digital design and SoC architecture.
Responsibilities
Deliver end-to-end digital avionics: architecture, RTL, verification, and flight qualification.
- Design and develop digital hardware architectures for high-reliability satellite avionics.
- Create and implement RTL for SoC blocks and interfaces (SystemVerilog/Verilog).
- Optimize architectures for performance, power, and cost trade-offs.
- Plan and execute design verification using assertion-based, UVM, and/or constrained-random techniques.
- Support prototype development and early validation efforts.
- Document design specifications, architecture decisions, and implementation details.
- Participate in design reviews, integration, and flight support activities.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex digital design issues and integrate hardware with firmware/software.
- Research and evaluate new architectural approaches to meet evolving system needs.
Requirements
Core technical skills and hands-on experience required for the role.
- 7+ years of experience in digital design and SoC architecture.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog or Verilog for RTL implementation.
- Experience with SoC integration and interface design.
- Understanding of digital timing and synchronization concepts.
- Knowledge of industry-standard bus protocols (e.g., AXI, AHB).
- Familiarity with synthesis tools and RTL-to-gates methodology.
- Experience with simulation and debugging of complex digital systems.
- Strong FPGA background and experience with FPGA tool flows.
- Experience with simulation-based test using Questasim and evaluation of code coverage metrics.
Education Requirements
B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
