Senior Automotive Product Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior Automotive Product Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Automotive Product and Test Engineering team responsible for bringing SoC products from validation to high-volume production for automotive applications (IVI, ADAS, Telematics). The role focuses on test development, silicon characterization, qualification, and production readiness.
The engineer will work with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems, operations) to develop ATE solutions, run silicon characterization and PVT, analyze data, and support customer and manufacturing needs.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies a minimum of 2+ years of relevant product development, ATE test, silicon validation, characterization, or production test experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include test development, silicon characterization, production readiness, and cross-functional support.
- Plan, verify, and optimize test cases; develop and validate ATE hardware and software.
- Perform PVT characterization, system correlation, and data analytics (including AI/ML tools).
- Integrate test features into hardware designs per roadmap and requirements.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, systems, and operations teams to implement test solutions that improve yield, test time, and quality.
- Evaluate and characterize manufacturing/test solutions and support product bring-up to meet schedules and customer expectations.
- Assess reliability and material properties; introduce automation and optimization to increase productivity.
- Document technical results and test procedures; communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; participate in decision-making that affects broader teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tooling experience, and behaviors required for the role.
Must-have:
- 2+ years experience in product development, ATE test, silicon validation/characterization, or high-volume production test for semiconductor products.
- Experience operating, validating, or debugging test programs on Automated Test Equipment for silicon validation, characterization, or production.
- Hands-on experience with test hardware, test software, lab debug, schematic review, or circuit simulation.
- Proficiency with programming or scripting languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, Assembly, C#, .NET, or embedded software.
- Experience using lab measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, power supplies, time interval analyzers).
- Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and summarize silicon/test data to support engineering decisions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ATE platforms (Advantest V93000/93K, Teradyne, or similar) and AI/ML applications for data analysis.
- Experience with SoC products (compute, mobile, automotive, IoT, connectivity) and familiarity with digital/VLSI concepts, CPU architecture, and semiconductor device physics.
- Knowledge of structural test methodologies (Scan/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST) and test domains (CPU, logic, memory, SerDes, sensor validation).
- Experience with CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA) and related measurements.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio, Python libraries) and embedded platforms/OS (ARM, microcontrollers, Android, Linux, RTOS).
- Experience supporting automotive validation, reliability, or production test requirements.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in the same fields. The posting also lists acceptable alternative qualifications: Bachelor's + 2+ years relevant experience, Master’s + 1+ year, or PhD in a related field.
