Job Title

Senior Automation and Tools Development Engineer

Role Summary

Senior software automation and tools engineer on the GPU SWQA team. Design and implement automated tests and build tooling to validate NVIDIA device drivers and SDKs across Windows and Linux.

Drive test automation initiatives using AI techniques, develop Python-based utilities and frameworks to accelerate development and testing, analyze results, debug issues, and improve coverage. This is a fully onsite role in Santa Clara, CA.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting expects substantial experience; the role references 4+ years of programming experience in Python or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test design, tool development, and driving automation efforts.

  • Design and implement automated tests that incorporate AI technologies for device drivers and SDKs on Windows and Linux.
  • Build tools, utilities, and frameworks (primarily in Python or equivalent) to automate and optimize GPU testing workflows.
  • Develop and run automated and manual tests, analyze results, identify and report defects, isolate root causes, and drive fixes to closure.
  • Measure and improve code coverage for the software under test.
  • Create maintainable, performant, and well-documented code for applications and test tools across a broad test matrix.
  • Provide and receive peer code reviews focused on performance, scalability, and correctness.
  • Estimate and prioritize tasks to produce realistic delivery schedules and status reports.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams on technical and process issues.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience, plus a few distinguishing qualifications.

  • Proficiency in Python (or equivalent) with solid Object-Oriented Programming skills; 4+ years of programming experience is expected.
  • Experience using AI tools to automate test cases and QA workflows.
  • Strong OS fundamentals and experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows system behavior and tuning.
  • Familiarity with PC I/O architecture and common bus interfaces such as PCI-E, USB, and SATA.
  • Experience with databases and storage technologies (examples: SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills; ability to isolate regressions and determine root cause.
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills; able to work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and quick to learn new technologies.

Nice-to-have:

  • Substantial experience with AI-driven automation and large-scale test automation efforts.
  • Development experience supporting CI/CD: fixing regression bugs and enabling automated tests in CI pipelines.
  • Experience measuring and improving test coverage using coverage tools and metrics.

Education Requirements

B.S. / B.Tech / M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
