Job Title

Senior ASIC Verification Engineer, Low Power Audio Subsystems/AI

Role Summary

Lead verification activities for ultra-low-power audio and on-device AI subsystems within ASICs. Work with design and verification teams to define methodology, develop test plans, and close verification for pre- and post-silicon phases.

Team scope includes always-on IPs, low-power domain crossings, and performance/power optimization for audio/AI features.

Experience Level

Senior. Guidance: typically 2+ years of ASIC design or verification experience, with shorter experience expectations when paired with an advanced degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, executing, and closing verification for low-power audio/AI ASIC blocks.

  • Develop and execute verification test plans for pre- and post-silicon validation.
  • Design and maintain scalable testbenches, assertions, and functional coverage models (SystemVerilog/UVM, SystemC).
  • Implement and improve automation flows to accelerate verification development and regression.
  • Lead complex debug activities across the development cycle and drive root-cause resolution.
  • Provide technical supervision and mentor other engineers; lead by example.
  • Collaborate with design teams to define verification methodology and required tests.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience.

  • Practical ASIC design or verification experience (typical guidance: 2+ years).
  • Hardware verification languages: SystemVerilog testbench (UVM) and/or SystemC.
  • Hardware description languages: Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Proficiency with C or C++ at a level sufficient to write verification support code.
  • Strong knowledge of digital circuits and event-driven simulators.
  • Effective debugging skills for complex hardware/firmware interactions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Domain knowledge in audio codecs/formats (e.g., MP3, MIDI), bus/interconnects (AHB, AXI), or CPU architecture (ARMv7/ARMv8, caches, MMU, security).
  • Scripting and build tools: Perl, tcsh, Python, GNU Make.
  • Experience with automotive safety concepts and standards such as ISO 26262.

Education Requirements

One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of ASIC design/verification experience; OR a Master's in Science, Engineering, or related field with 1+ year of ASIC design/verification experience; OR a PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered where indicated by the employer.
