Senior ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for leading verification and architecture activities for VLSI/ASIC projects. Work primarily onsite at an HPE office (Roseville, CA) and partner with internal teams and external development partners to deliver verification, validation, and high-quality silicon solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β requires significant experience; posting specifies 10+ years in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on technical leadership across the full VLSI lifecycle from architecture and design review through verification and prototype validation.
- Lead project teams of VLSI/ASIC engineers and manage coordination with internal and outsourced partners.
- Define and review architecture and logic designs; ensure compliance with VLSI standards and guidelines.
- Develop and oversee design verification strategies, test plans, and simulation environments.
- Drive integration of new technologies and EDA tools into projects to improve quality and cost effectiveness.
- Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and feedback to less-experienced engineers.
- Analyze test results, debug issues, and recommend design or process improvements to reach production readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (concise):
- 10+ years of experience in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification methodologies.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PERL, or TCL.
- Experience with software programming in C or C++.
- Familiarity with EDA and FPGA tools and VLSI development flows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to design and validate complex digital logic and architectures.
- Proven ability to lead project teams and mentor engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of Specman.
- Evidence of technical leadership such as patents or publications in VLSI/hardware design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or background in VLSI design/VLSI concepts is expected.
