Senior ASIC Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the ASICS Engineering team to design and verify ultra-low-power ASIC subsystems for audio and context-aware applications. Work covers pre- and post-silicon verification, testbench and flow development, and close collaboration with design teams.
This role focuses on delivering scalable, reusable verification environments and driving verification closure for next-generation low-power SoCs.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical candidates have multiple years of ASIC design and verification experience; hiring guidance references around 3+ years of relevant experience (see Education Requirements for degree-based alternatives).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Contribute to core verification during pre- and post-silicon phases using simulation.
- Drive development and execution of test plans and achieve verification closure with design and verification teams.
- Create and maintain testbenches, assertions, and functional coverage with an emphasis on scalability and reuse.
- Implement and automate flows to improve development processes.
- Lead complex debug activities across the development cycle (pre- and post-silicon).
- Provide technical supervision and lead by example; work closely with design to define verification methodology.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 3+ years ASIC design, verification, implementation, or related work experience.
- Proficiency with Verilog/VHDL RTL and ability to write clean, synthesizable RTL.
- Solid understanding of ASIC/VLSI concepts and digital circuits.
- Experience with hardware verification languages (e.g., SystemVerilog testbench/UVM, and/or SystemC).
- Experience with hardware description languages (Verilog and/or SystemVerilog).
- Working experience with C or C++.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of audio codecs/protocols (MP3, MIDI), interconnects (AHB, AXI), or CPU architecture (ARM v7/v8, cache, MMU, security).
- Experience with event-driven simulators.
- Familiarity with scripting and build tools (Perl, tcsh, Python, GNU Make).
- Experience with automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of ASIC design/verification experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 1+ year of ASIC design/verification experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field.
