Senior ASIC Test Lab Equipment Engineer
Role Summary
Support and maintain test lab equipment for ASIC NPI, characterization, reliability qualification, and production readiness in Micron's Taichung MTB lab. Work closely with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, and vendors to maximize equipment readiness and accelerate new product introduction.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5 years experience supporting semiconductor test equipment or manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include equipment support, hardware qualification, NPI support, reliability test execution, and lab operations.
- Support daily operation, setup, qualification, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Teradyne UltraFLEX ATE systems, TEL wafer probers, and Chroma handlers.
- Perform equipment bring-up, installation, acceptance, calibration, preventative maintenance, and recovery.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, interface, and communication issues between tester, prober, and handler systems; coordinate repairs with vendors.
- Support qualification and debug of probe cards, load boards, sockets, interface boards, cables, and contactor hardware.
- Prepare tester, handler, and prober setups for ASIC silicon bring-up, characterization, test program validation, and engineering builds.
- Execute HTOL/ELFR readouts and support reliability qualification and stress testing activities.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, PM procedures, setup guides, and troubleshooting documentation; manage spare parts and inventory.
- Drive equipment uptime improvements through root-cause analysis and corrective actions; monitor equipment health and utilization.
- Leverage automation, scripting, and AI-assisted tools to improve tester setup, monitoring, data analysis, and documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred skills where noted.
- Hands-on experience supporting Teradyne UltraFLEX, TEL wafer probers, and/or Chroma handlers.
- Experience with probe cards, load boards, sockets, and related test hardware; able to troubleshoot contact, alignment, thermal, and signal-integrity issues.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience with hardware interfaces and communications between systems.
- Experience performing equipment qualification, preventative maintenance, calibration, and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment and to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Preferred: IG-XL familiarity, burn-in operations, HTOL/ELFR qualification support, and experience with ASIC wafer sort and final test.
- Preferred: Basic scripting/automation (Python) and experience supporting ASIC, SSD controller, networking, AI accelerator, or HPC products.
- Preferred: Proven experience working directly with equipment vendors to drive technical issue resolution.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
