Job Title

Senior ASIC Test Engineer

Role Summary

The ASIC Test Engineer develops test programs, validates silicon, analyzes yield, and optimizes production test flows for advanced ASIC/SSD controller products across NPI and high-volume manufacturing (wafer sort to final test).

The role partners with design, product engineering, reliability, and OSAT teams to accelerate ramp, ensure quality, and reduce test cost and time.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting does not specify a years-of-experience range; the role expects demonstrated experience in ASIC/SoC test development and production test optimization.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test program development, silicon bring-up, and production test optimization.

  • Develop and debug ATE test programs for wafer sort and final test (probe-to-package) to support silicon bring-up and production ramp.
  • Drive yield analysis, failure characterization, and root-cause investigations to accelerate yield improvement and ensure product quality.
  • Collaborate with design, product engineering, reliability, and OSAT teams to resolve test and silicon issues across the product lifecycle.
  • Optimize test coverage, test time (TTR), and cost via test content development, guardband tuning, and improved screening strategies.
  • Support hardware bring-up including probe cards, load boards, and tester configurations to ensure stable manufacturing operations.
  • Develop scalable test solutions to enable efficient NPI execution and reduce cycle time from bring-up to HVM.
  • Apply AI/ML and data-driven methods for yield analysis, anomaly detection, failure classification, and predictive test strategies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed as nice-to-have.

  • Experience in ASIC/SoC test development, silicon debug, or product engineering.
  • Solid understanding of ATE platforms, digital and analog test methodologies, and silicon validation flows.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills; proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, C/C++ or similar).
  • Experience with yield analysis, failure analysis, and production test optimization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with hardware debug for probe cards, load boards, and tester setups.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with SSD controllers or high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR); exposure to Teradyne UltraFlex/J750, Advantest 93k, handlers, and wafer sort probers; experience in HVM and OSAT collaboration; familiarity with AI/ML tools and big data platforms.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
