Job Title

Senior ASIC Solution Architect

Role Summary

Lead customer technical engagements and define end-to-end ASIC solutions for data center and AI infrastructure projects. Serve as the technical owner for architecture definition, feasibility analysis, and technology selection during early program phases.

Work with hyperscalers, cloud providers, and strategic ASIC customers to translate system requirements into scalable ASIC platform and subsystem architectures and to mitigate architecture and implementation risks.

Experience Level

Senior — role expects substantial domain experience (typically 12+ years in the semiconductor industry, with at least 6 years in ASIC/SoC architecture or equivalent technical leadership).

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for customer solution definition, architecture tradeoffs, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Engage customers to capture business and system requirements and convert them into ASIC solution roadmaps.
  • Lead architecture feasibility studies and system-level tradeoff analysis (performance, power, area, cost, schedule, scalability).
  • Recommend platform and subsystem architectures involving HBM, PCIe, CXL, UCIe, SerDes, Ethernet, NoC, chipsets, and memory subsystems.
  • Advise on IP selection, system partitioning, and integration strategies to meet customer goals.
  • Serve as technical lead in pre-sales and early program definition; run architecture workshops and reviews.
  • Coordinate across Product Management, Design, Verification, Physical Design, Program Management, Customer Engineering, and partners.
  • Identify architecture and implementation risks and propose mitigation plans prior to implementation.
  • Develop reusable solution methodologies: review processes, playbooks, design guidelines, and reference architectures.
  • Deliver technical workshops, training, executive briefings, and presentations to support adoption.
  • Maintain long-term technical relationships with customer engineering and architecture teams and collect feedback to inform roadmaps.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and capabilities.

  • Extensive semiconductor experience (senior-level, architect or technical leadership) with deep ASIC/SoC architecture knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the complete ASIC development lifecycle: architecture, RTL, verification, physical implementation, signoff, tapeout, and silicon bring-up.
  • Domain expertise in one or more data-center ASIC technologies (HBM, PCIe, CXL, UCIe, SerDes, Ethernet, AI accelerators, networking ASICs).
  • Knowledge of advanced process technologies and implementation challenges at advanced nodes.
  • Proven ability to lead architecture reviews, cross-functional technical planning, and complex technical decision-making.
  • Track record of guiding teams from architecture through tapeout and silicon bring-up of complex ASIC products.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills and ability to engage engineers and executives; fluent English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to drive technical decisions under ambiguity.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with hyperscalers, cloud infrastructure, AI accelerators, HPC, DPU/XPU programs.
  • Background in fabless, IP suppliers, or major design service companies; familiarity with Qualcomm technologies and ecosystem partners.
  • Experience with advanced-node projects (7nm, 5nm or beyond) and developing customer enablement programs.
  • Familiarity with Python, Tcl, or system-level modeling tools.

Education Requirements

Degree in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Integrated Circuit Design, Computer Engineering, or related field. Minimum combinations listed: Bachelor's degree + 6+ years relevant experience, Master’s degree + 5+ years, or PhD + 4+ years; equivalent practical experience may be considered where stated.
