Senior ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the Applied Research and Technology (ART) Microelectronics Technology team at Collins Aerospace. Responsible for chip-level verification of high-performance digital FPGAs and ASICs used in defense and mission systems. Position is onsite in El Segundo, CA (also may be based in Fullerton, CA).
Experience Level
Senior level. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree. Active, transferable U.S. government SECRET clearance and U.S. citizenship are required prior to start.
Responsibilities
Primary verification and integration responsibilities:
- Architect and design verification environments using SystemVerilog with OVM/UVM.
- Create written test plans and testcases; track code coverage and functional coverage.
- Develop testbenches for RTL blocks using VHDL or SystemVerilog and execute simulations.
- Collaborate with design engineers on ASIC/FPGA integration and validation; support lab validation and debug.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship; may lead verification teams, plan activities, and report status.
- Contribute to engineering estimates for program pursuits.
Requirements
Core must-have skills and preferred qualifications.

Must-have: Active transferable U.S. government SECRET security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Must-have: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3+ years with an advanced degree).

Must-have: Professional experience developing and simulating RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog.

Must-have: Experience designing, implementing, and executing verification testbenches using SystemVerilog; familiarity with constrained-random testing, functional coverage, and assertion-based verification.

Must-have: Familiarity with revision control tools (e.g., Git, Subversion).

Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and protocols (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet).

Nice-to-have: Experience with ASIC/FPGA lab validation and debug and use of standard lab equipment.

Nice-to-have: Proficiency with industry-standard tools (QuestaSim, Synplify, Quartus, Vivado) and Unix/Linux environments and scripting.

Nice-to-have: Background in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems.
Education Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). An advanced degree in a related field may reduce the required years of experience (advanced degree + ~3 years). Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
