Senior ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Applied Research & Technology Microelectronics Technology team based in Fort Wayne, IN. Develop and lead ASIC/FPGA verification efforts, create verification environments and testbenches, validate integration, and mentor junior engineers on defense-focused hardware projects.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typically 5+ years of relevant ASIC/FPGA verification experience (or ~3+ years with an advanced degree as noted in Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary verification and technical leadership duties include:
- Design and architect verification environments using SystemVerilog with OVM/UVM.
- Create test plans, write test cases, and track code and functional coverage.
- Develop RTL block testbenches using VHDL or SystemVerilog and run simulations.
- Collaborate with design engineers on ASIC/FPGA integration, validation, and bring-up.
- Lead verification teams: plan activities, report status, and contribute to engineering estimates.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Requirements

- Active U.S. government security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility.
- Experience developing and simulating RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Proven ability to design and execute verification testbenches and verification environments.
- Knowledge of chip-level verification methodologies including constrained-random testing and functional coverage.
- Experience with ASIC/FPGA lab validation and hardware debugging.
- Familiarity with ASIC/FPGA simulation and synthesis tools (examples: QuestaSim, Vivado, Quartus, Synplify).
- Proficiency with revision control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion) and Unix/Linux environments; scripting experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience in aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field with ~5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with ~3 years of relevant experience. U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. government security clearance are required for the role.
