Job Title

Senior ASIC Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver digital ASIC blocks from RTL through implementation and timing closure. Work on complex digital subsystems and collaborate with verification, synthesis, physical design, and system teams to meet performance, area, and power targets.

Contribute to design reviews, debugging, silicon bring-up, and mentoring of junior engineers within the Austin ASIC digital design team.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting does not specify years of experience.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain RTL (e.g., SystemVerilog) for complex digital blocks and IP.
  • Define and apply synthesis, timing, and DFT constraints; collaborate with synthesis and STA teams toward timing closure.
  • Perform architecture and code reviews; ensure design quality and compliance with standards.
  • Debug pre-silicon and silicon issues, support bring-up and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with verification, firmware, physical implementation, and system teams to integrate designs.
  • Automate flows and create scripts for build, verification, and analysis tasks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and document design practices.

Requirements

Key requirements and preferred skills.

  • Must-have: Proven experience in ASIC digital design and RTL coding (SystemVerilog or similar); working knowledge of the ASIC design flow including synthesis and static timing analysis.
  • Practical experience with industry EDA tools for synthesis, timing, and implementation and with design-for-test methodologies.
  • Scripting skills for automation (Tcl, Python, Perl, or similar) and strong debugging/problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams; ability to work onsite in Austin, TX.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with low-power design techniques, FPGA prototyping, tapeout experience, and familiarity with specific Synopsys tools (e.g., Design Compiler, PrimeTime).

Education Requirements
