Job Title
Senior ASIC Design Engineer, Google Cloud
Role Summary
Design Engineer on Google's AI and Infrastructure team responsible for SoC-level RTL for next-generation data-center TPU accelerators. Work with system architects, verification, physical design, and software teams to deliver high-performance silicon and lead post-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting specifies approximately 8 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute across the RTL design lifecycle, from microarchitecture through silicon bring-up, and coordinate cross-functional trade-offs for performance, power, and timing.
- Drive RTL development from microarchitecture through sign-off for high-performance SoC designs.
- Collaborate with system architects to meet chip-level bandwidth, latency, and power targets.
- Define test plans with Verification and Physical Design teams and support timing closure.
- Lead post-silicon bring-up and system testing to validate performance and functionality.
- Specify third-party IP needs and influence designs to improve testability and debug capability.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements for the role.
- Minimum ~8 years of experience in digital logic and RTL design for high-performance ASICs or SoCs.
- Expert-level Verilog or SystemVerilog skills and advanced RTL design experience with multi-clock domains.
- Proven ability to achieve timing closure and work with Physical Design flows.
- Familiarity with ASIC flows, SerDes behavior, and scripting (Python, Tcl, Perl) for automation and debug.
- Knowledge of NoC and memory architecture and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience leading cross-functional efforts across hardware and software teams and coordinating verification and bring-up activities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
