Job Title

Senior ASIC Design Engineer – Clocks IP

Role Summary

Design and implement on-chip clocking for NVIDIA GPU and CPU products. The role works within the Clocks team and partners with front-end architects, physical design, timing, verification, DFT, software, and silicon bring-up teams.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting requests 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include architecting clock domains, delivering RTL, and supporting silicon bring-up.

  • Architect clock domains to meet functional, physical, and test requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, front-end designers, floor-planning and back-end teams to design GPU/CPU clocks that meet architectural and physical constraints.
  • Evaluate Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) trade-offs and implement clocking topologies in RTL.
  • Work with physical design and timing teams to address high-speed clocking concerns.
  • Deliver clock RTL and documentation to verification, timing, and DFT teams.
  • Participate in the end-to-end ASIC cycle from micro-architecture and implementation through sign-off checks and silicon bring-up.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by useful extras.

  • 3+ years of relevant ASIC design experience.
  • Deep understanding of logic optimization techniques and PPA trade-offs.
  • RTL design experience (Verilog), verification, and logic synthesis.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python or similar).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with clock controllers and clock logic design; implementing on-chip clocking networks.
  • Understanding of sub-micron silicon issues (noise, cross-talk, OCV effects).
  • Experience with scalable designs, system-level power/noise considerations, and hands-on silicon debug.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience; MS preferred. Fields: Electrical Engineering or related technical/engineering degrees; equivalent experience accepted.
