Senior ASIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop digital signal processing (DSP) ASIC blocks for quantum control systems. Work across microarchitecture, RTL development, verification, testing, and integration while coordinating with physicists, optical engineers, and software teams.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 5+ years of post-degree hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Hands-on ASIC design: microarchitecture, RTL development (SystemVerilog preferred), verification, and integration.
- Design and implement large digital DSP blocks for control and signal processing.
- Develop and maintain FPGA prototypes and influence FPGA-to-ASIC conversion flow.
- Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, and software teams to translate system requirements into hardware.
- Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation up to tapeout.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- 5+ years of post-degree experience as a hardware engineer.
- Proven experience in a complete ASIC design cycle.
- Expertise in digital signal processing algorithms and implementing DSP blocks in RTL.
- Proficiency with RTL development; SystemVerilog preferred.
- Experience with Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA design tools.
- Experience with FPGA, microprocessor, and related digital circuit design.
- Strong collaboration and cross-disciplinary communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with quantum hardware or optical control systems.
- Prior FPGA-to-ASIC migration and tapeout experience.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
