Senior Architect, GPU and SoC Modeling
Role Summary
Senior architect on NVIDIA's Architecture Modeling team responsible for modeling, analysis, validation, and simulation of GPU and SoC architectures and features. Work with cross-functional modeling teams to design and maintain models, tools, and tests that measure performance and correctness.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical experience: 8+ years relevant industry experience; or MS with 5+ years; or PhD with 2+ years.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include modeling, tool development, validation, and mentoring within a matrixed organization.
- Model and analyze graphics and SoC algorithms, features, and performance.
- Design, develop, and maintain tools and simulators for functional and performance modeling.
- Implement and validate model features across functional and performance models used at NVIDIA.
- Create tests, test plans, and testing infrastructure for new architectures and features.
- Perform code-coverage analysis and generate reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote robust coding and engineering practices.
- Evaluate and adopt newer modeling techniques and frameworks; drive improvements with management support.
- Contribute to development of AI-based tools to increase modeling and validation efficiency.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience required or preferred.
Must-have:
- Strong programming skills in C++ and C.
- Experience with build systems and toolchains (CMake, make, GCC, MSVC) and common libraries (STL, Boost).
- Experience working in distributed or matrixed engineering teams and strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop tests, testing infrastructure, and perform coverage analysis.
- 8+ years relevant experience (or equivalent per Experience Level).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SystemC and TLM for computer architecture modeling.
- Familiarity with Docker, Jenkins, Python, and Perl.
- Prior experience applying AI/ML tools to engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. MS or PhD also referenced as alternate qualifications (MS with ~5+ years, PhD with ~2+ years). "Equivalent experience" language is explicitly accepted.
