Senior Applications Engineer, Prime Power RTL 2.0

Role Summary

The Senior Applications Engineer executes RTL power analysis and support activities for Prime Power RTL 2.0. Works on customer evaluations, internal analysis, and support cases under general supervision.

Primary tasks include running established PPRTL logical flows, preparing collateral from templates, and escalating complex issues to senior team members.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical background: BS plus 2 years related experience (semiconductor EDA, IC design, or applications/support), or a Master's degree with no prior professional experience.

Responsibilities

Execute and document routine evaluation and support activities using established playbooks and templates.

  • Run PPRTL logical flows (libraries, RTL, SDC/FSDB, synthesis, compute_power, CGE reporting) and produce collateral from templates.
  • Assist customers with routine flow setup, installation, and licensing questions; record results and issues for team review.
  • Perform basic RTL power linting and summarize findings for testcases and reports.
  • Reproduce defects, diagnose routine issues, and escalate complex problems to senior team members and engineering groups.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge base: testcase notes, FAQs, and documentation updates.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed below.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in semiconductor EDA, IC design, or applications/support; or a Master's degree with no prior professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of RTL power concepts: switching, internal and leakage power, and clock gating fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Tcl scripting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: Exposure to VCS/Verdi, familiarity with SDC/UPF, and experience or coursework in low-power VLSI topics.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required (BS + 2 years relevant experience). A Master's degree in a related field is an acceptable alternative with no prior professional experience. The posting also notes low-power VLSI coursework as a preferred qualification.
