Senior Applications Engineer, EDA
Role Summary
Provide applications engineering support to RF, analog, mixed-signal (AMS) and digital silicon design teams. Act as the technical interface between product design, technology development, internal EDA/CAD groups, and EDA vendors to enable efficient, scalable silicon product development.
Hands-on role focused on deploying and qualifying EDA flows, supporting designers, and driving methodology, automation, and productivity improvements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects 5+ years supporting or designing RFIC, analog, mixed-signal, or digital IC products.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day applications support for RFIC, analog, AMS, and digital design teams using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy silicon design methodologies and reference flows, including PDK enablement and reusable automation.
- Support circuit simulation, mixed-signal verification, digital verification, modeling, debugging and results interpretation.
- Evaluate, benchmark, qualify, and deploy EDA tools for custom design, AMS simulation, digital verification and RF simulation.
- Collaborate with technology, design, CAD and product engineering teams to improve first-pass silicon success and designer productivity.
- Partner with EDA vendors to resolve technical issues, influence product roadmaps, and deploy new capabilities.
- Deliver training, documentation and mentoring to increase designer proficiency.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:
- 5+ years supporting or designing RFIC, analog, mixed-signal, or digital IC products.
- Hands-on experience with CMOS, SOI, SiGe or related silicon technologies.
- Experience with custom analog/RF design, AMS verification, and/or digital design and verification flows.
- Proficiency with tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, Xcelium, Synopsys HSPICE/PrimeSim, VCS, Keysight ADS, AWR or equivalent.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred: experience defining enterprise EDA design flows and methodology deployment.
- Preferred: knowledge of EM, package, thermal and multi-physics simulation.
- Preferred: experience collaborating with EDA vendors on tool qualification and roadmap development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (BS/MS) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
