Role Summary
The Senior Applications Engineer for Prime Power RTL 2.0 executes RTL power estimation and support activities, running established PPRTL flows and preparing technical collateral. The role works on customer evaluations, routine support cases, and contributes to internal knowledge base under general supervision.

Senior - typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor EDA, IC design, or applications/support.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include running standard analyses, supporting customers, and documenting results.
- Execute PPRTL logical flows: libraries, RTL, SDC/FSDB, synthesis, compute_power, and CGE reporting using established playbooks and templates.
- Prepare evaluation collateral and summarize results from templates for internal and customer review.
- Assist customers with routine flow setup, installation, and licensing questions; document outcomes and issues.
- Perform basic RTL power linting, summarize findings, and contribute testcase notes and FAQ entries.
- Reproduce and diagnose routine defects; escalate complex issues to senior team members and collaborate with sales/support on assigned accounts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for performing the role.
- Minimum ~2 years experience in semiconductor EDA, IC design, or applications/support (see Education Requirements for degree details).
- Basic understanding of RTL power concepts: switching, internal, and leakage power; clock gating fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and Tcl scripting for automation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing work and documentation.
- Ability to follow established procedures and escalate complex technical issues appropriately.
- Preferred: exposure to VCS/Verdi tools and basic SDC/UPF knowledge; coursework or experience in low-power VLSI is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in a related field is also accepted (the posting allowed MS candidates without prior professional experience). Low-power VLSI coursework or equivalent academic background is preferred.
