Senior Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Senior Applications Engineer supporting MPS automotive products. Develop and deliver power-management system solutions and reference designs for automotive applications (ADAS, infotainment, telematics, lighting, body control). Work cross-functionally with customers, design engineers, sales, field applications, and technical marketing. Occasional domestic and international travel (10β20%).
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years related experience in power management IC product development or hardware engineering.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in automotive power-management applications.
- Provide technical support and own relationships for assigned customers; act as primary engineering contact.
- Create customized solutions and develop reference designs.
- Evaluate and debug new ICs; test and analyze customer failures and provide system-level root-cause assessments.
- Use customer feedback to influence new-product definitions and application directions.
- Author application notes, whitepapers, and trade-journal articles.
- Provide technical training to field teams and customers.
- Travel to customer sites and internal locations as required (approx. 10β20%).
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years experience in power-management IC product development or hardware engineering.
- Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal ICs.
- Experience supporting/promoting ICs and driving design wins with system-level solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for technical and executive audiences.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and across regions.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to deliver projects on schedule.
- Experience with the IC product development process from concept through volume production.
- Ability to take initiative and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Direct automotive application experience (ADAS, infotainment, telematics, lighting).
Education Requirements
MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
