Senior Application Support Engineer (Tessent)

Role Summary

Provide technical support and application consulting for Siemens Tessent DFT tools to semiconductor customers. The role diagnoses complex DFT issues in customer designs, advises on DFT flows and best practices, delivers training, and feeds product issues back to R&D.

Experience Level

Senior - the role expects an experienced engineer (source indicates ~8 years of validated experience in IC design, DFT, ATE testing, or related support).

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on customer support, consultation, and documentation focused on Tessent DFT tools and DFT flows.

• Respond to and resolve customer technical support requests for Tessent DFT.
• Analyze customer design data (RTL, netlists), DFT insertion reports, waveforms, test patterns, diagnostics, and logs to locate and fix complex issues.
• Recommend DFT flow optimizations and best practices tailored to customer designs.
• Deliver customized customer training on Tessent features, DFT architectures, and test methodologies.
• Reproduce, document, and report software defects and enhancement requests to R&D.
• Create and maintain application notes, FAQs, and knowledge-base articles for advanced DFT topics.
• Maintain regular technical engagement with key customers to improve satisfaction and adoption.
• Keep current with DFT standards (examples: IEEE 1149.1, 1500, 1687), test methodologies, and IC design trends.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; listed briefly.

• Extensive practical experience with DFT principles, methodologies, and debugging DFT toolchains (Tessent proficiency required).
• Strong knowledge of the IC design flow (RTL to GDSII) and impacts of DFT insertion across stages.
• Familiarity with ATE basics and test pattern formats (e.g., STIL, WGL, TDL) and ability to assist on ATE-related test issues.
• Proficient scripting skills in Tcl, Perl, or Python on Linux/Unix for automation and debugging.
• Fluent Chinese and competent English reading/writing for technical documentation and communication.
• Ability to reproduce complex customer issues and produce clear technical reports for engineering teams.
• Nice-to-have: experience applying AI/ML techniques to DFT (pattern optimization, intelligent fault diagnosis).

Education Requirements

Master's degree or equivalent experience in Microelectronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of the degree.
