Senior Application Engineer - Digital Implementation & Physical Design
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership and customer-facing support to drive adoption of Cadence digital implementation, physical design, and static verification solutions across customers in the region. Combine hands-on physical design expertise with collaboration across customer design teams, Cadence R&D, and Product Engineering to improve performance, power and area (PPA) and ensure successful tapeouts.
Work involves on-site customer engagement, methodology development, and influencing tool flows for advanced technology nodes.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests at least 2+ years of hands-on physical design experience and expects strong practical expertise in physical implementation and customer engagement.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on implementation support, methodology work, and customer-facing technical leadership.
- Perform physical design implementation: floorplanning, power grid design, place and route, clock tree synthesis, and timing closure.
- Support low-power and high-speed designs at advanced technology nodes (leading-edge process nodes).
- Participate in or lead next-generation physical design methodology and flow development.
- Work closely with RTL design teams to ensure successful tapeouts and design handoff.
- Engage with customers to drive tool adoption, provide technical support, and influence product/methodology direction.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, behaviors, and domain experience.
- Hands-on experience with physical design and verification for ASICs; prior experience with 7nm and below technologies.
- Familiarity with full ASIC design flow and hierarchical physical design strategies; understanding of deep sub-micron technology issues.
- Solid knowledge of low-power design techniques and methodologies.
- Able to take responsibility for technical tasks and work independently.
- Self-motivated, collaborative team player with good English communication skills for customer interaction.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. The posting specifies 2+ years of hands-on physical design and verification experience; it also references prior working experience with 7nm and below technology nodes.
