Senior Application and SDK Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and support embedded applications, SDKs, and protocol stacks for wireless products (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Thread, Matter). Work with cross-functional engineering and product teams to integrate software with SoC hardware interfaces and to resolve complex customer issues.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing, integrating, and debugging firmware and protocol stacks, supporting customers, and collaborating across teams.

  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain embedded applications and SDKs for ARM-based systems.
  • Implement and integrate wireless protocol stacks (Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth/ZigBee/Thread/Matter) and network features.
  • Develop and debug Linux-based components including kernel modules and device drivers, and user-space applications.
  • Develop real-time applications on FreeRTOS and optimize scheduling, memory, and peripheral integration.
  • Integrate and validate SoC hardware interfaces: Ethernet, USB, UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, PCIe.
  • Lead troubleshooting and provide technical support for complex software/hardware issues; perform customer on-site bring-ups and debugging (10–15% domestic travel).
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver solutions and technical guidance.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in embedded firmware or SDK development for microcontroller/embedded systems.
  • Proficient in C and C++; experience with Python, shell scripting, and SWIG.
  • Experience with Linux internals: kernel modules, device drivers, and user-space tooling.
  • Experience developing real-time applications on FreeRTOS.
  • Networking knowledge: Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), IPv4 routing, TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, 802.1Q VLAN, L2 bridging.
  • Experience integrating interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, DMA, PCIe.
  • Familiarity with development and collaboration tools: Git, GitHub/Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
  • Strong debugging skills for software and hardware integration and customer-facing technical support.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering (including VLSI variants) or Physics, or foreign equivalent in a related technical field. (Degree requirement specified in source.)
