Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Senior analog/mixed-signal IC designer for Acacia optical transceiver products. The role leads architecture, design, layout and productization of high-speed CMOS mixed-signal blocks used in optical communications ASICs and works closely with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: BSEE +12 years, MS +8 years, or PhD +5 years (or equivalent experience) as described in the posting.
Responsibilities
Design, verify, and transition high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuitry from concept to production; lead a large block on complex chips and mentor other engineers.
- Architect, design, layout and characterize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS AMS circuits for high-speed optical transceivers.
- Lead technical efforts for large design blocks, track deliverables, and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Develop measurement plans, perform lab characterization, and iterate designs for manufacturability and production readiness.
- Provide design methodology and mentoring from conception through production support.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills (concise):
- Design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs in multiple areas, such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Experience developing high-speed AMS circuits and mixed-signal simulations (e.g., Spectre/APS/SpectreX or equivalent).
- Hands-on layout experience and integration into ASICs; understanding of floorplanning for power/ground and analog/digital separation.
- Lab measurement and ESD laboratory practices for IC characterization.
- Ability to lead design reviews, mentor team members, and deliver complex projects to production.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and photonic integration contexts.
- Experience with FinFET technologies and custom transistor layouts.
- High-frequency layout experience for passives (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
- Design-for-manufacturability (DFM) experience and floorplanning for mixed-signal chips.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre variants, Matlab, EMX and mixed-signal tool flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years' experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. (The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of the listed degrees.)
